United Way Announces 6th Annual Great State Heroes Event
On September 12th, United Way of Wilkes County will hold its third Great State Heroes event. United Way is seeking nominations for our “local Heroes.” Our heroes are unselfishly serving in our communities to improve lives and lead by example. They impact lives just by the way they live and serve. “Great State Heroes” look like ordinary citizens, but they do extraordinary deeds for the people of Wilkes County.
Nominees are being accepted in four area of service: Crisis Intervention, Educational Advancement, Health Improvement and Future Generations (18 years old or younger). The top three nominees in each category will be invited to attend our festivities on September 12th. The winner in each category will receive a $1,000 award that will be made to the non-profit organization of their choice.
Perhaps you know someone who has helped others through a difficult time. Maybe you have witnessed someone who is truly making a difference in their school, their workplace, their church or their community. If so, please nominate them before June 29th, 2023.
