United Way of Wilkes Announces New Executive Director

The United Way of Wilkes, a community support organization serving Wilkes County since 1953, has announced the selection of Chris Pardue as its new executive director. Pardue will fill the vacancy created by Rick Stegall’s retirement in July.  The selection was made after a regional search and selection process.

Pardue will be joining Clara Hickman, Director of Finance and Sue Woodie, Campaign Assistant.

“We are very pleased to announce this new addition to the United Way” says Amanda Perry, United Way of Wilkes Board President. “Chris brings strong leadership and financial skills to this organization. With his ambition and the support of United Way staff and Board of Directors we are excited to strive for larger positive impacts in Wilkes County. Needs in our area keep growing.  With this new-found energy our hope is to make a difference for as many community citizens as we can by having Chris work closely with our campaign efforts and partner agencies.”

Pardue resides in Hamptonville, NC with his wife Anita where they have raised three children. Pardue recently retired from Bank of America where he served as Senior Vice President in Global Commercial Banking.  Pardue's career in financials started in Wilkes County, working for Northwestern Bank headquartered in North Wilkesboro.

“After leaving a long career in the Financial Industry I decided it was time to focus my efforts on improving poverty, education and health in my own communities”, says Pardue. In making this transition Pardue refers to Mahatma Gandhi's profound statement of "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."

The United Way of Wilkes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Wilkes County, providing support to over 20 local partner agencies in three impact areas, Crisis Intervention, Health Improvement and Educational Advancement.

United Way of Wilkes County greatly appreciates the support of our Corporate Sponsors for 2017-2018.
