The United Way of Wilkes Board of Directors announces that Dan Little will be the Campaign Chair for the 2018-2019 campaign.  The choice was announced by United Way of Wilkes’ President Amanda Perry.

We are thrilled that Dan Little agreed to be this year’s community campaign chairman.  United Way is very fortunate to have Dan serve in this capacity.

Dan recently retired as President of the Wilkes Economic Development Corporation where he had been since July 2014. Prior to that he served for three years as the Director of the Small Business Center at Wilkes Community College, and before that he enjoyed a 25 year banking career with First Union and SunTrust retiring in 2010.

Dan has chaired the United Way of Wilkes, the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, Wilkes Vision 20/20 and is a graduate of the NC Rural Development Institute and has a bachelor’s degree from Pfeiffer.

Dan is married to Marcia Bumgarner and they have 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.  In his spare time he enjoys golf and all things outside.

We are so excited that Dan cares enough about our community to volunteer his time and talents as our 2018-2019 Campaign Chairman said Clara Hickman, United Way Executive Director.  I have known Dan for a long time and feel with his leadership we will have a successful campaign.

The ongoing changes in corporate giving policies and the new tax law have created a perfect storm for those in need this year. Dollars coming in are shrinking while numbers of people in need are growing. This trend has been in place for at least 10 years, but we can reverse it one person at a time.  Every dollar raised in Wilkes, stays here to help those in need.  United Way of Wilkes funds 21 partner agency programs that provide much needed services to our community states Hickman.
